The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted rain accompanied by dust and thunderstorms in the Karachi division for today as a new weather pattern settles over the South Asian nation.

As per the new weather system, the Met Office anticipates partly cloudy weather in most districts of the province. However, rain with wind and thunderstorms is likely in Karachi, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Dadu, Ghotki, Nawabshah, Sanghar, Hyderabad, and Larkana during the evening and night.
Today’s temperature in Karachi: Around noon, the temperature reached approximately 32°C. Humidity levels were recorded at around 60 percent in the country’s largest city. Winds were blowing at 24km/h. The maximum UV Index was measured at 2, indicating low levels of UV radiation, with visibility around 6km.
Karachi’s Air Quality: The air quality in the provincial capital was recorded at 56, categorizing it as ‘poor’. Pollution levels have risen significantly, posing health risks for sensitive groups. It’s advisable to limit outdoor activities if experiencing symptoms such as difficulty in breathing or throat irritation.
Synoptic Situation: Moderate to heavy rainfall may lead to increased water flows in local streams and could potentially trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, and Abbottabad from Monday to Tuesday.
The region is currently influenced by a westerly wave, affecting the upper and central parts of the country, and is likely to persist until Tuesday. Expect rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, upper Sindh, northeast/south Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Additionally, snowfall is expected in higher altitudes, and isolated hailstorms might occur in plain areas. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places.
