Usman Mukhtar, originally slated to star in the upcoming drama ‘Ghair’, has been replaced by Usama Khan. The drama, directed by Yasir Nawaz, features Ushna Shah in the lead role. Although Mukhtar was initially part of ARY Digital’s project, he had to withdraw from it.
The sudden change led to curiosity among social media users, and it was revealed that Usman Mukhtar had to urgently return to Islamabad due to his mother’s serious illness. She was admitted to the ICU and later placed on a ventilator. As her condition persisted, Usman had to halt shooting and eventually requested the director to find a replacement, as scheduling conflicts arose with other actors involved in the project.
Yasir Nawaz himself confirmed that Usman had to step away from the project due to his mother’s health, and he himself suggested casting someone else in the role.
Born in 1985, Usman Mukhtar embarked on his career in filmmaking in 2006 and ventured into theatre acting in 2007. He gained recognition as a film actor with a role in ‘Janaan’. In 2019, he starred in the popular Hum TV drama ‘Anaa’.
In April 2022, he took on a new role as a producer by co-launching Eastern Terrestrial (ET) Studios with actor Meiraj Haq. The production house is dedicated to discovering and supporting emerging talents.
Additionally, in June 2022, Mukhtar released ‘Gulabo Rani’, a horror short film that received the Best Short Film Award at the 2022 Los Angeles Sci-Fi & Horror Festival.
