LAHORE – Social media stars in Pakistan continue to be targeted by privacy violations, with the latest incident involving lesser-known TikTok star Somal Mohsin. Her private videos and pictures, showing her in compromising situations with a male companion, have gone viral online.
Somal has yet to publicly comment on the incident, but the leaked content has sparked a backlash on social media. This follows a series of similar leaks, including those of Minahil Malik and Imsha Rehman, as well as previous cases involving public figures like Mathira and Chahat Gul.
Minahil Malik, in response to a leaked video allegedly featuring her, has denied its authenticity, claiming it was doctored to tarnish her reputation. She filed a complaint with the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing, seeking justice. Despite facing similar challenges before, Minahil has received strong support from her followers.
The increasing number of video leaks has raised concerns about online harassment and the need for stronger legal protections to safeguard digital privacy, particularly for social media influencers in Pakistan.
