Renowned actor Sir Michael Gambon has passed away at the age of 82. He was most beloved for his iconic portrayal of Professor Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight Harry Potter films.
According to a statement from his widow, Lady Gambon, and his son Fergus, Mr. Gambon battled pneumonia before peacefully passing away in the presence of his family at the hospital.
Sir Michael Gambon’s illustrious career began on the stages of London’s theaters, eventually leading him to Hollywood in the late ’90s.
Apart from his memorable role as Dumbledore, Gambon’s filmography includes notable works such as Maigret, The Singing Detective, King of Thieves, Page Eight, and Path to War, among others.
Born into a working-class family, Gambon initially pursued engineering, following in his father’s footsteps. However, after obtaining his esteemed degree, he decided to pursue his true passion and became an actor.
In 1962, he married Lady Anne, a retired mathematician, and together they welcomed their son, Fergus.
