Prabhas’ upcoming film ‘Salaar‘ is generating immense anticipation for its release in 2023. There have been reports circulating that suggest ‘Salaar’ might be a remake of Prashanth Neel’s Kannada movie, ‘Ugramm’. Here’s what we currently know about this speculation:
IS ‘SALAAR’ A REMAKE OF ‘UGRAMM’?
‘Salaar’ is scheduled for a grand release on December 22, and it’s set to clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ at the box office. As the release date approaches, rumors about its connection to the Kannada film ‘Ugramm’ have been gaining momentum. Prashanth Neel directed ‘Ugramm’ in 2014, and it was later remade in Odia and Marathi. The question arises: Is ‘Salaar’ truly a remake of ‘Ugramm’?
Initially, ‘Salaar’ was supposed to hit screens on September 28. However, the makers decided to postpone the release in order to fine-tune the post-production process.
There have been recent rumors about ‘Salaar’ being a remake of ‘Ugramm’. When composer Ravi Basrur was asked about it in an interview, he commented, “Everyone knows that. But, how he does it, we should wait and see.” However, it’s unclear whether this is a recent statement or an older one.

It was also speculated that ‘Ugramm’ had been taken down from YouTube. However, the film is still available on the platform, and its Hindi dubbed version can be streamed on Zee5.
Since the release of ‘Salaar’s’ poster and teaser, fans have been noticing some similarities and speculating about potential connections between the two films.
PRAHSANTH NEEL TRASHES RUMOURS
Prashanth Neel, who has been in the spotlight for the past few months due to ‘Salaar’, addressed the question of whether it’s a remake in an old interview. The ‘KGF’ director clarified, “All of the films that I make will have some shades of ‘Ugramm’. That’s my style. But, ‘Salaar’ is a fresh story. It’s not a remake or adaptation of ‘Ugramm’.”
Based on the teaser of ‘Salaar’, some have speculated that it might be linked to the ‘KGF’ franchise. However, Prashanth Neel has yet to provide any clarification on this matter.
