Faysal Quraishi, a seasoned figure in the entertainment industry with over two decades of successful work, is gearing up for a return to Hum TV, reprising his iconic role as Bashar Momin.
This marks his comeback to Hum TV after an impressive eight years. Quraishi’s upcoming drama on Hum TV is titled “Zulm,” centering around themes of injustice and resilience. In this new venture, the accomplished actor portrays a ruthless and notorious character.
His last appearance was in the drama serial “Mol,” alongside Navin Waqar and Iqra Aziz.
Throughout his career, Faysal Quraishi has delivered a string of hit serials, including ‘Toba Tek Singh’, ‘Bashar Momin’, ‘Qaid-e-Tanhai’, ‘Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan’, ‘Zakham’, ‘Bheegi Palkain’, ‘Aap Kay Liye’, ‘Mol’, ‘Farq’, ‘Dil-e-Momin’, ‘Haiwan’, and many more.
In a January 2023 interview, Quraishi candidly critiqued Pakistani dramas and their viewership trends. He questioned why he was often cast as a mature man marrying a younger woman in numerous dramas. His response was candid – he can’t turn back time and become younger. He pointed out that while mature love stories can be told, Pakistani audiences predominantly gravitate towards dramas centered around marriage. He cited the rarity of dramas like “Pinjra” that venture into different content.
Quraishi mentioned his drama serial ‘Naraz,’ which focused on the relationship between a father and son. Unfortunately, it didn’t garner much attention. He explained that in Pakistan, marriage seems to be the prevailing theme in people’s minds when it comes to dramas. He acknowledged the challenge for drama makers to deviate from this tried-and-true formula. Despite attempts to introduce change, the audience’s preference for familiar narratives often prevails. He concluded by noting that projects like ‘Aik Thi Laila’ offer opportunities for actors to take on more challenging roles, allowing them to satisfy their creative urges.
