Tragically, Tarver Braddock, a 15-year-old student from Neville High School in Monroe, lost his life in a fire at a deer camp during the early hours of January 5, 2023. The heartbreaking news was communicated by Jeff Tannehill, the football coach at Neville High School, through a text to the USA TODAY Network.
Tannehill not only confirmed the devastating incident but also implored everyone to extend an outpouring of love and support to the grieving family as they cope with the profound loss of their son. Additionally, five of Tarver’s classmates suffered injuries in the unfortunate blaze.
In a tragic incident, Tarver lost his life during a hunting camp in Jefferson County, Mississippi. The group of students he was with faced a devastating situation when a fire erupted on the camp’s porch early Friday morning. Despite the efforts of his friends to rescue him from the burning camp, Tarver couldn’t be saved. Sheriff James Bailey, upon reaching the scene, discovered one student dead, while five others managed to escape with injuries.
The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office reported that two of the injured students were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, with one being transferred to the burn center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Fortunately, the other two have been released from medical care, as per KNOE’s information. The incident is a somber reminder of the unpredictable and heartbreaking nature of such emergencies.
