Weather Update – Muslims worldwide, including those in Pakistan, are preparing for the upcoming Holy Month of Ramadan, which is approaching soon.
Talking to a local media outlet, weather analyst Jawad Memon has predicted that Ramadan in the country will most likely begin on March 12.
Memon reveals that while the new moon marking the start of Ramadan will appear on March 10, it won’t be visible without aid until March 11. He mentioned a 95% likelihood that the first day of fasting will begin on March 12.
“First Taraweeh will be observed on the night of March 11 [whereas] the first fast will be on March 12,” Memon said.
As usual, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will gather to review reports of moon sightings from different parts of the country. They will decide whether the moon is visible and then announce its sighting.
In December last year, the Cabinet Division released a full list of public and optional holidays to be observed across the country in 2024. As per the list, Eid-ul-Fitr holidays are planned for April 10th, 11th, and 12th.
However, the schedule can be changed depending on the sighting of the moon.
