The extreme cold weather gripping Pakistan has broken all previous records, with Lahore experiencing its coldest day of the season on Friday. The temperature in Lahore dropped to as low as 4 degrees Celsius, accompanied by 100 per cent relative humidity during the morning.
The northern regions of Skardu and Leh continue to be the coldest locations in the country, with temperatures plummeting 10 degrees Celsius below freezing. Dense fog or haze prevailed in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh, leading to disruptions in transportation.
The National Highway and other inter- and intra-city highways were closed due to the strong fog or smog. Additionally, traffic disruptions on motorways further complicated travel conditions. The frigid temperatures and adverse weather conditions have significantly impacted daily life across the affected regions.
