Karachi and parts of Sindh are expected to experience more rains and isolated hailstorms on Friday evening/night and Saturday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). A strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of Pakistan, and this weather system is anticipated to persist in upper parts until Sunday (March 3).
Areas likely to be affected include Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Jamshoro, Noushero Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Mohenjo-Dharo, and Larkana. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are also expected in lower Sindh during this period. The PMD warns that heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding, and wind/thunderstorms may cause damage to loose structures such as electric poles and solar panels.
The minimum temperatures in Karachi are projected to be between 16-18 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 15-17 degrees Celsius on Sunday. In Hyderabad, the minimum temperatures are expected to range from 15-17 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 14-16 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
While dry weather prevailed in most districts of Sindh in the last 24 hours, some areas experienced scattered rains. Jacobabad received 12mm of rainfall, and Larkana received 3mm. Mohenjo-Daro recorded the coldest temperature in the province at 12 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 84% in the morning. In Karachi, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 65% in the morning. In Hyderabad, the minimum temperature was recorded at 18 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 67% in the morning.
