ISLAMABAD – Heavy rains, snow on hills, and occasional hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and some areas of Pakistan from Tuesday evening through Thursday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave will likely enter western parts of Pakistan today evening/night. It will likely grip most upper/central parts of the country on Wednesday.
In the coming days, expect rain, wind, and thunderstorms in Balochistan, upper Sindh, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly regions. Some areas might also experience snowfall over the hills starting from Tuesday evening through Thursday.
Heavy rainfall could lead to sudden flooding in local streams in Gwadar, Ketch, Turbat, and Panjgur. Additionally, snowfall might disrupt traffic in northern parts of Balochistan on Tuesday and Wednesday. Moreover, heavy rain combined with snowfall in certain areas may result in road closures in Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli on Wednesday and Thursday. Landslides could occur in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan due to heavy rainfall. Furthermore, windstorms or hailstorms might cause damage to structures like electric poles and solar panels.
Islamabad’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 09-11 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 08-10 C on Thursday.
Rawalpindi’s minimum temperatures will likely remain between 12-14 C on Wednesday and 11-13 C on Thursday.
During the past 24 hours, most areas of the country experienced cold and partly cloudy weather. However, there were isolated instances of rain in northern Balochistan, upper and southern Punjab, as well as Bagrote.

In Islamabad, the lowest temperature was 09°C, and the relative humidity in the morning was 83 percent.
In Rawalpindi, it was as cold as 12 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 65 percent in the morning.
