Karachi residents should prepare for a bout of high temperatures as the Meteorological Department predicts a partial heatwave in the city on coming Monday and Tuesday.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz explains that temperatures are expected to rise above 36°C over the next two days due to low air pressure in the Bay of Bengal affecting sea breezes. It’s important to note that this doesn’t constitute a full-fledged heatwave.
While the intense heat is expected to ease after Tuesday, it’s advisable for citizens to take precautions and avoid outdoor activities during the peak afternoon hours. Staying hydrated, wearing loose and light-colored cotton clothing, and minimizing strenuous activities are recommended.
The Meteorological Department also cautions that rural areas in Sindh, including Tharparkar, Umarkot, and Badin, may experience light rain on September 17 as the low-pressure system moves towards Rajasthan, India.
Given the increased risks of heat strokes and dehydration, authorities are on high alert to address any heat-related medical emergencies over the next few days. Keep safe and stay cool, Karachi!
