Creating new smartphones every year is a challenging job, especially when it comes to revamping the inner workings and intricate folding mechanisms of modern foldable phones. Recently, there have been rumors circulating about Samsung’s upcoming Z Fold6 phone.
Don’t expect much change in Galaxy Z Fold6. At least we can be sure of the camera. It is the same as Fold4 and Fold5, that’s for sure.

According to a well-informed source named ICE UNIVERSE, it seems that we should lower our expectations for the primary camera in Samsung’s Z Fold6. It appears that Samsung is planning to use the same 50MP Samsung GN3 sensor in the Z Fold6, which is also found in the Z Fold5 and Z Fold4. You’d have to go back to the Z Fold3 to find a different 12MP Sony IMX555 main camera.
While this might be a bit disappointing, there are reports from reliable sources like THE ELEC suggesting that Samsung is trying to make the Z Fold6 thinner and bridge the gap in thickness compared to its competitors. According to these reports, Samsung might be taking inspiration from Huawei’s Mate X5 foldable to figure out how the Chinese company managed to create a thinner device with a larger internal battery.
When it comes to the thickness of these different folding phones, the Z Fold5 is 6.1 mm when it’s fully open and 13.4 mm when it’s folded up. The Mate X5 is a bit slimmer at 5.3 mm when unfolded and 11.1 mm when folded. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is even thinner, measuring 5.3 mm when open and 10.9 mm when closed. The new OnePlus Open is 5.8 mm when you open it up, and it becomes 11.7 mm thick when you fold it.
