Honor has introduced a new foldable device in its Magic V series, following last year’s Magic V. The latest model, called Magic V2, boasts a sleek design with a lightweight magnesium alloy frame and a specially developed Luban titanium hinge. Thanks to these improvements, the device is incredibly thin and weighs only 229 grams. To put it in perspective, it’s even lighter than the previous Magic V2 (which was 231 grams) and is approaching the weight of modern flagship non-foldable smartphones.
The Magic Vs2 is incredibly slim, measuring only 10.7mm when folded and a mere 5.1mm when unfolded. It has a 6.43-inch screen with a high-resolution display of 1,060 x 2,376 pixels. The screen’s refresh rate is adjustable from 1 to 120 times per second, and it has a narrow, elongated shape with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Honor also boasts that the screen can get exceptionally bright, with a potential brightness of up to 2,500 nits.
The inner screen measures 7.9 inches and boasts the same LTPO OLED tech and 1-120Hz refresh rate and features a 9.8:9 aspect ratio. Both panels support HDR 10+ and feature 16MP front-facing cameras housed inside punch-hole cutouts. Magic Vs2 also supports stylus input on both the external and internal screens.
The new Honor phone uses the same powerful Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, along with either 12 or 16GB of RAM and 256 or 512GB of storage. It also has improved cameras, including a 50MP main camera, a 20MP telephoto camera with 2.5x zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
The Magic Vs2 comes in three colors: Velvet Black, Glacier Blue, and Coral Purple. It’s priced at CNY 6,999 (which is about $958) for the version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. If you want the one with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, it costs CNY 7,699 (around $1,054). You can pre-order it on Honor’s official website in China, and it will be available for open sales starting on October 17.
