Apple Card, introduced in 2019 in the US, is now approaching an expiration milestone for its initial batch of titanium cards. The company has initiated the process of replacing these expiring cards with new ones for users who enrolled in Apple Card in August 2019.
Users who were among the first to obtain an Apple Card are currently receiving emails from Apple, informing them about the impending expiration and the subsequent replacement procedure. The replacement cards will be automatically dispatched to the cardholder’s billing address within two weeks from the notification date.
Interestingly, the titanium Apple Card, devoid of any engraved information aside from the holder’s name, had left users unaware of their card’s expiration date, which occurs approximately five years after issuance. However, the recent notification has provided users with clarity regarding the expiration and replacement process.
The purpose of the replacement cards is to ensure a smooth transition without any disruptions in card functionality. Cardholders can continue using their current titanium card until it expires or activate the new one upon receipt. Additionally, Apple underscores that the digital functionality of Apple Card, including Apple Pay and virtual card number usage, remains unaffected during the transition period.
In alignment with Apple’s sustainability initiatives, the replacement cards will include a prepaid shipping label for customers to return their old titanium cards for recycling. This initiative underscores Apple’s commitment to minimizing environmental impact while delivering a seamless user experience for Apple Card holders.
As the original cards will cease to function upon expiration, users are encouraged to promptly activate their new cards upon receipt. With Apple’s proactive approach, cardholders can expect a smooth transition to the new titanium cards, maintaining their privacy and sustainability objectives in the process.
