In Pakistan, there’s a potential hiccup in the passport delivery process due to a shortage of lamination papers, a crucial component in passport production.
It appears that those in charge of procurement failed to take timely measures, resulting in this shortage, which will inevitably disrupt passport printing in the country.
For applicants opting for the standard fee, there may be a delay of over a month in receiving their travel documents, surpassing the usual 21-day delivery timeframe. Despite this shortage, passport offices are still accepting applications.
The Directorate General of Immigration and Passport recently extended the delivery time in response to a surge in applications. Normal passport delivery now takes up to 21 working days, while urgent and fast-track passports will be processed in 5 and 2 days, respectively.
