The Karachi traffic police have unveiled a traffic plan for April 23 in anticipation of the arrival of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to the city the following day.
As part of the plan, Club Road will be entirely closed for traffic from PIDC to Metropole as a security measure, as announced by the traffic police.
Additionally, Ziauddin Road will be shut down from Khajoor Chowk to PIDC and fully closed from the light signal to PIDC Chowk.
Authorities have outlined that traffic from Sultanabad Road will be redirected towards Khajoor Chowk and Aiwan-e-Sadr Road.
Motorists coming from Shaheen Complex will have the option to turn left from Khajoor Chowk onto Aiwan-e-Sadr Road.
President Raisi’s arrival in Islamabad today marks the commencement of his three-day official visit to Pakistan, making him the first foreign leader to visit following the February 8 general elections.
Throughout his stay, President Raisi is scheduled to engage in meetings with various dignitaries, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Senate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.
Furthermore, he plans to visit Lahore and Karachi to interact with provincial leadership, holding discussions with Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in Karachi. Additionally, he intends to pay homage to the founder of Pakistan at Quaid’s mausoleum in Karachi.
President Raisi will continue his stay in Karachi and is scheduled to depart for Tehran on Wednesday.
Given the significance of the visit, provincial authorities are on high alert, with a public holiday declared in Karachi on April 23.
