on Wednesday, An Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir pronounced the Toshakhana reference case and sentenced the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years each imprisonment.
Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, was banned from holding any government position for 10 years. He was also fined Rs 78.70 million individually, and a total of Rs 158.30 billion was imposed on both him and the other accused.
In less than 24 hours, former prime minister Imran Khan got a second sentence from the courts. On Tuesday, former premier Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi have each been sentenced to 10 years in prison in the cipher case.
The verdict was pronounced by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqernain of the Official Secrets Act special court after conducting proceedings in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
The judge said the prosecution had enough solid evidence to prove the crime.
Both people accused of the crime were in the courtroom when the judge gave the punishment. They didn’t want to sign the questionnaire required by Section 342 of CrPC because their lawyers weren’t there with them.
