Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon introduced from May 10, the Excise & Taxation Department will enforce actions against unregistered vehicles. Additionally, random drug tests will be conducted on students in educational institutions.
In a press conference, Memon talked about how drug abuse is a big problem worldwide, especially among young people. He mentioned that President Asif Zardari has given orders to tackle this issue in the province.
Memon lauded the efforts of various government departments, particularly Home Minister Ziaul Hassan, in the ongoing anti-drug operations. He disclosed plans to establish new rehabilitation centers and urged parents to be vigilant.
Highlighting recent successes, Memon revealed that 1,550 suspects have been apprehended, with significant quantities of drugs seized. He stressed the confidential handling of students testing positive for drugs and vowed strict action against drug suppliers.
Memon said that from May 10, cars without registration will be taken away. He also said to get your license plates quickly and mentioned there will be penalties if you don’t pay your vehicle taxes on time.
Memon said there aren’t enough people working in the narcotics control department because they haven’t been able to hire new staff. This is because there’s a legal order stopping them from hiring, which is making job seekers wait longer and feel upset.
