The Directorate General of Public Security in Saudi Arabia has introduced a convenient new electronic service for citizens and residents to obtain valid driving licenses. This service is open to Saudi citizens, as well as expatriates, including those from Pakistan and India, allowing them to complete the necessary steps to legally drive in the Kingdom.
Apply for Saudi Driving License
Here’s how you can apply for a Saudi driving license:
- Visit the Absher Platform.
- Select “Issuing a Driver’s License.”
- Book an appointment at a driving school for theoretical testing. If you already have a valid international or foreign license, you can proceed to step 6.
- Once your application is accepted, you’ll receive a confirmation message.
- Complete and pass the required stages and hours. This includes a medical examination at an accredited center, along with both practical and theoretical tests overseen by the General Traffic Department.
- Applicants holding a valid foreign or international driving license recognized by the relevant department in the Kingdom are exempted from the test.
- To check the status of your license, log in to your Absher account. Go to [My Services], then [Inquiries], followed by [Traffic], and [Public Query Driving License]. Enter your National ID or Iqama number along with your date of birth, and click on [View] to access all information about your driving license.
