The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, which falls under the Ministry of Interior, is responsible for issuing or renewing passports for Pakistani citizens.
If a passport has less than 12 months of validity left, it can still be renewed, allowing the applicant to obtain a machine-readable passport with an extended validity of either 5 or 10 years.
