The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, which falls under the Ministry of Interior, is the authority responsible for issuing passports to Pakistani citizens.
Any Pakistani citizen has the right to obtain a machine-readable passport for international travel.
How To Apply for New Passport
For individuals 18 years and above, the following documents are required:
- Proof of payment of the prescribed passport fee, which can be shown through the Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (received via SMS/Email along with PSID No.).
- Original valid CNIC/NICOP along with a photocopy.
- Previous Passport in its original form, along with a photocopy (if issued previously).
- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the relevant department in the case of government, semi-government, or autonomous body employees.
- Foreign Passport and its photocopy (for Dual-Nationals only).
- In the case of a lost passport, bring a Lost Passport Police report specifying the previous passport number.
New Passport Urgent Fee Update for October 2023: As of October 2023, the urgent fee for a 36-page passport remains at Rs6,000. For a 72-page passport, it’s Rs10,000, and for a 100-page passport, the government has set the urgent fee at Rs13,000.
