Every citizen of Pakistan is entitled to a machine-readable passport for international travel, provided all necessary requirements are met. The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, a department under the Ministry of Interior, is the authorized body responsible for issuing passports to Pakistani citizens.
How To Apply for New Passport
For Applicants Aged 18 and Above
- Evidencing proof of the prescribed passport fee payment is essential. This can be done through presenting the Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail (received via SMS/Email) along with the PSID Number.
- The applicant must possess their original valid CNIC/NICOP, and provide a photocopy of it.
- If the applicant holds a previous passport, it should be presented in its original form along with a photocopy (if issued).
- Government, semi-government, or autonomous body employees are required to furnish a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the relevant department.
- For Dual-Nationals, a foreign passport along with its photocopy is mandatory.
- In case of a lost passport, a Lost Passport Police Report indicating the previous passport number must be provided.
For Applicants Under 18 Years
- Proof of the prescribed passport fee payment is required, which can be provided through the Original Bank Paid Fee Challan (receipt) or e-Payment Confirmation Detail received via SMS/Email, along with the PSID Number.
- Original Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form “B”), Family Registration Certificate (FRC), or Smart Card, along with a photocopy, must be presented.
- The original valid CNICs or Passports of both parents are needed, along with photocopies.
- If the minor is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian appointed by the court of law, the original valid CNIC/NICOP of the parent/guardian is necessary.
- In case of separation or divorce of parents, custody papers granted by the Court of Law should be brought.
- If one parent applies for the passport of the minor due to divorce or separation, explicit permission in the form of the other parent’s presence or their consent on a duly attested non-judicial stamp paper will be required.
- In the case of a guardian, a guardianship certificate issued by the court of law is mandatory. The appointed guardian must personally visit the Passport office with the minor, along with their original CNIC and a photocopy.
- For Dual Nationals, a foreign passport along with its photocopy is necessary.
- If either parent is deceased, the original Death Certificate along with a photocopy should be provided.
New Passport Normal Fee Update September 2023
As of September 2023, the fees for 36-page, 72-page, and 100-page passports remain unchanged. The fee for a 36-page passport is Rs. 4,000, Rs. 6,500 for a 72-page passport, and the government has set the fee for a 100-page passport at Rs. 7,000.
