Petrol prices in Pakistan are poised to see a decline, thanks to the government’s decision to pass on the benefits of the strengthened local currency against the dollar.
Addressing the speculation surrounding petrol prices, interim Information Minister Murtaza Solangi indicated a potential reduction in prices in the coming fortnight. He attributed this anticipated drop to the significant strengthening of the local currency against the US dollar.
Speaking with reporters at the Karachi Press Club, Solangi expressed confidence that petrol prices would decrease in the first half of the upcoming month. He commended the effective administrative measures taken by the caretaker government in this regard.
Earlier this month, the interim government led by Kakar approved substantial hikes in petrol and diesel prices, despite earlier promises of providing relief to those affected by inflation. Petrol saw a staggering increase of Rs26.2 per litre, while diesel witnessed a hike of Rs17.34 per litre.
Within the span of a month, the price of this essential commodity surged by nearly Rs60 per litre.
