ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has warned the government of launching a civil disobedience movement if his key demands are not met. This announcement came following the apparent failure of PTI’s “Do or Die” protest, which sought to secure Khan’s release and rally support for the party.
Imran Khan revealed in a post on social media platform X that he has formed a five-member negotiation committee to engage with the federal government on two crucial demands. These include the release of “political prisoners” currently under trial and the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the violent actions taken against PTI supporters during the May 9, 2023 protests and the November 26 crackdown.
Khan made it clear that if these demands are not addressed, he will initiate a civil disobedience movement starting December 14.
In addition to the release of political prisoners, Imran Khan announced plans for a grand rally in Peshawar on December 13 to honor the “martyrs” who, he claims, lost their lives during the Islamabad protests. He further stated that many PTI workers remain missing and called on the Supreme Court to take notice of ongoing human rights violations.
“We have approached the Supreme Court, Lahore High Court, and Islamabad High Court regarding these violations, but no action has been taken so far,” he added.
