DUBAI – Eid-ul Fitr is one of the most important festivals in Islam, celebrated after Muslims fast for the entire month. Now, everyone looks forward to a long break.
This year, residents of the United Arab Emirates will enjoy the nine-day Eid holidays. The holiday could be extended to 9 days, from April 8 onwards. People in the Emirates will enjoy the key event without applying for annual leave.
The current holy month of Ramadan lasts either 29 or 30 days but the exact dates are subject to the moon sighting. Eid is celebrated at start of the 10th Islamic month Shawwal.
If Ramadan lasts for 30 days, the Eid holidays in 2024 will be from April 8th to April 12th, giving us a break of five days, which includes two weekends. However, if Ramadan lasts for 29 days, the break will be from April 8th to April 11th, giving us nine days off, including weekends.
During Eidul Fitr, people in the UAE will enjoy a five-day break, beginning after a weekend and finishing before the next weekend. This means that they can have nine consecutive days off work, from April 6 to April 14.
Eid holidays in Pakistan 2024
In Pakistan, things are unlike the Gulf countries. Here, the annual event’s first day is likely to be either on April 10 or 11. Following that, April 13 and 14 are the weekend days, making it possible for people to have a five-day Eid holiday.
If individuals choose to make their Eid break longer by adding Monday and Tuesday, they can have a nine-day Eid holiday similar to the one in the UAE.
