As the temperatures start to drop with the arrival of winter, authorities in Islamabad have introduced new timings for schools. This adjustment comes into effect from October 16, according to a notification from the Federal Directorate of Education.
For schools following a single-shift schedule, classes will now commence at 8:00 am and conclude at 2:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, classes will end at 12:30 pm.
In the case of schools operating in double shifts, classes will run from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday through Thursday, while on Fridays, they will conclude at 12:30 pm.
The evening shift is scheduled from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, and the second shift will begin at 2:30 pm on Fridays. Postgraduate colleges will hold classes from either 8:30 am to 2:00 pm or from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Punjab has already made similar changes due to the expected further drop in temperatures. Sindh, KP, and Balochistan are expected to announce their respective adjustments later. The Meteorological Office has also forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Islamabad, and the Potohar region.
