The government plans to lower fuel prices again, with petrol expected to decrease by Rs4 per litre in early June 2024 due to a drop in international prices.

As of May 23, 2024, global petroleum prices fell by $1.68 to $96.19. If confirmed, this would mark the third straight reduction, totaling Rs24.85 per litre.
Diesel prices are also down internationally, dropping by 83 cents to $98.40. Locally, diesel prices were recently cut by Rs7.88 to Rs274.08 per litre, and another decrease of about Rs3.5 per litre for high-speed diesel is expected.
The final prices, effective from midnight on May 31, 2024, will depend on global market trends and exchange rates.
