Petrol prices in Pakistan will complete a triple century in Pakistan as the interim caretaker government is taking steps toward fiscal objectives laid down by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
People who are already struggling due to the nation’s economic crisis are preparing for yet another setback as petrol prices are likely to increase starting on September 1.
In a recent move, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is proposing raising the price of gasoline by about Rs. 12 per liter, while diesel will experience an increase of Rs. 14.83 per liter.
The price of gasoline is anticipated to grow as the local currency crosses the 300 mark against the US dollar in the interbank market, which has sparked widespread protests throughout the nation over the skyrocketing electrical bills.
All commodities in Pakistan are projected to see rising inflation. Due to shocks to local economies, fuel costs are expected to significantly climb in the next two weeks.
The dollar exchange rate has jumped by more than Rs 12, and the sudden changes in the exchange rate would affect how much gasoline and diesel cost starting at the beginning of the following month. In recent weeks, the price of gasoline in Pakistan has increased by Rs37.50 and that of diesel by Rs40 a litre.
