The Sharjah Police arrested a suspect for offering illegal massage services and using it to blackmail women.
Authorities have revealed that a suspect in his 40s, believed to be of Arab descent, used social media to offer an illegal massage service for as little as Dh100, aiming to entice potential customers. The police became aware of his activities when they received reports about his online presence, particularly on platforms like Snapchat.
His modus operandi involved taking compromising photos and videos of women during the massages and then using these materials to blackmail them for money. After confirming the information they had received, a police team conducted a raid at the specified location and apprehended him in the act. The suspect is said to have admitted to his wrongdoing.
The authorities emphasize that criminals employ various tactics to promote illegal massage services, including handing out business cards on the streets and creating fake social media profiles. When unsuspecting individuals respond to these offers and visit the location, the perpetrators capture their images or videos and subsequently extort money from them.
Law enforcement is urging residents not to engage with offers of illegal massage services and instead, to report such activities to the authorities. They caution that availing of such services could expose individuals to a range of risks, including extortion.
