Mark Scarsi is the U.S. district court judge who will preside over the case involving the latest federal indictment against President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.
Scarsi, who works in the Central District of California and was appointed by President Donald Trump, has been serving on a court in Los Angeles since 2020.
A judge was chosen at random to preside over the most recent legal matter involving Hunter Biden. This follows his indictment on Thursday, facing nine charges related to taxes, including three felony counts. This information comes from court documents filed in a federal court in Los Angeles.

In February, Scarsi sentenced the owner of a construction company to two years in prison for failing to pay $1.6 million in taxes on more than $4.8 million in income over a five-year period and ordered him to pay $1.6 million in restitution.
In the past year, Judge Scarsi handed down a 10-year prison sentence to a man who deceived eight women, some of whom he was romantically involved with, and defrauded nine businesses. The charges included money laundering. Additionally, a pharmacist received a two-year federal prison term for admitting to forging prescriptions in order to unlawfully sell opioids.
