At least 50 people were injured on Monday after a “technical problem” had caused a “strong movement” aboard the LATAM Airlines international flight from Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney, Australia.
According to FlightAware, The LATAM Airlines flight LA800, which usually makes a stop in Auckland on its route to Santiago, Chile, arrived at Auckland airport on Monday afternoon as planned.
The aircraft, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, suffered a “technical problem” that affected some passengers and cabin crew, a spokesperson for the South American airline told the NZ Herald.
“They received immediate assistance and were evaluated or treated by medical staff at the airport as needed,” he added.
According to Reuters, A spokesperson said that the Hato Hone St John ambulance helped around 50 people at the airport.
Of those injured, one person was in critical condition, while the others had minor to moderate injuries, they said.
A passenger told the NZ Herald she experienced a “quick little drop” during the flight.
At the moment, Boeing and Latam haven’t said anything about the incident. They also haven’t shared any details about what caused the incident or what exactly happened.
