Heavy Rain in Karachi – This month, Pakistan is expected to be affected by two weather systems coming from the west through Balochistan.
The first system, which is not very strong, is expected to affect only Balochistan. However, the second system, expected to arrive on March 9th, has a 50% chance of bringing rain to Sindh, including Karachi. This winter, there have already been five similar weather systems.
The Department of Meteorology’s Early Warning Centre predicts that cold weather in the province, including Karachi, will decrease starting from March 6th. Two consecutive weather systems from Iran via Balochistan are expected to move into the country.
Karachi’s Chief Meteorologist, Sardar Sarfraz, reports that following the departure of the recent rain-causing western system, two new systems will enter Balochistan. The first, arriving today, is of low intensity and expected to impact Balochistan only. However, the second system, arriving on March 9, is stronger according to instrument data and may influence the climate of Sindh, including Karachi. A more detailed forecast will be available in the coming days.
Karachi’s main weather station at Pehalwan Goth noted a low of 11.1 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees cooler than the day before, and a high of 26.2 degrees Celsius. The weather station at Jinnah Terminal Airport recorded a low temperature of 10 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorology Department’s Early Warning Centre predicts that the severe cold spell affecting the province, including Karachi, will likely ease starting from March 6. Until Wednesday afternoon, Karachi is expected to experience northeasterly winds from Balochistan, followed by southwest sea winds on Thursday.
