ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s rising star, Saim Ayub, made a mark in cricket history by scoring his maiden ODI century in the second match of the ongoing three-match series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
The 22-year-old had a quiet start to the series, failing to make an impact in the first game. However, Ayub bounced back in spectacular fashion, blasting his first-ever century in just 53 balls.
Ayub’s aggressive knock included 16 boundaries and 3 sixes, playing a key role in Pakistan’s comeback in the series. His blistering century not only served as a personal achievement but also saw him match the record for the third-fastest ODI century by a Pakistani, previously held by cricket legend Shahid Afridi.
With this remarkable innings, Ayub joined Afridi, who holds the top three spots for the fastest ODI centuries by a Pakistani player.
Ayub’s stunning performance came at a crucial moment for Pakistan, keeping their hopes alive in the series after a challenging start. The knock has firmly established him as one of the promising young talents in Pakistan’s limited-overs lineup.
Having made his international debut for Pakistan in March 2023, Ayub’s blistering performance in Bulawayo has shown that he has the potential to be a game-changer for Pakistan in both formats of the game.
