The inaugural edition of the Sindh Premier League (SPL) took a step closer to reality with the draft ceremony held at a local hotel in Karachi. In this event, the six franchises of the league selected players from various categories, including Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, Emerging, and Sindhi Emerging.
The selection criteria encompassed top-performing players in domestic cricket, established cricketers, and emerging talents. According to SPL rules, each franchise had the opportunity to choose one icon player, followed by selections in different categories like platinum, diamond, gold, silver, emerging, and Sindhi emerging players.
The Platinum category featured notable players like Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris, Haider Ali, Khush Dil Shah, Anwar Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Aamir Jamal, Ahmed Shahzad, Faheem Ashraf, Asad Shafiq, and Yasir Shah. Meanwhile, the Diamond category included players such as Sohaib Maqsood, Zeeshan Ashraf, Arshad Iqbal, Salman Irshad, Musharraf Afridi, Haseebullah Khan, and Sameen Gul.
Prominent figures like Sindh’s Caretaker Interior Minister Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz, Sports Minister Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, and League Chairman Malik Aslam shared their thoughts on this significant occasion.
The league features six teams: Sukkur Patriot, Benazirabad Lals, Karachi Gladiator, Larkana Challengers, Khairpur Royals, and Hyderabad Bahadur. Scheduled to be held in Karachi, the inaugural edition of the league will run from December 14 to 25, and the PCB has granted its approval for the event.
