WhatsApp is constantly adding new features, and according to the WABetaInfo team, another one is on the way. Meta’s messaging app will soon allow you to have multiple user profiles within a single account.
With this new feature, you’ll have the ability to create distinct profiles for different sets of people, such as your friends and your coworkers, all within one WhatsApp account. You can hide various profile details from specific contacts, like your profile picture, when you were last online, and your current online status. This means you’ll have the flexibility to choose what information you want to share with different groups of people in your contact list.
The screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that you will be able to show a different profile photo to your contacts if you have an alternate profile.
The image provided shows that the alternate profile feature will be accessible under the privacy settings within the app. However, this feature is still under development and isn’t currently available to beta testers. It will take some time before it becomes accessible to everyone. Initially, it will go through closed beta testing before being made available to the public beta platform. Finally, it will be released as a stable version.
This update follows the recent global introduction of account switching in WhatsApp, which serves as a great interim solution until the alternate profiles feature becomes fully functional. Account switching allows users to have multiple WhatsApp accounts on one smartphone, eliminating the need for workarounds like app cloning or having a secondary smartphone solely for accessing another WhatsApp account.
