WhatsApp’s evolution is evident in its development, incorporating features from other apps like Instagram and Messenger. One such feature in the pipeline is a system to notify users when someone likes their status posts.
Presently, users can react to status changes using suggested emojis or select from a broader range via the keyboard UI. However, recent reports suggest WhatsApp is contemplating adding a one-tap “like” button, akin to Instagram, for swift reactions to status updates.
In the latest beta version of WhatsApp, a new toggle switch named “Like reactions” has emerged within the Notification settings. Enabling this feature prompts push notifications whenever a friend reacts to one’s status update with a “like.”
This enhancement aims to streamline responses to status updates from friends and family. Yet, it also raises concerns about potential notification overload if the toggle is activated after posting a status visible to numerous contacts.
While the new notification toggle and the “like” button addition to WhatsApp status posts are still under development, an official release date remains undisclosed. Nonetheless, this feature addition underscores Meta’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the WhatsApp user experience.
