WhatsApp, the instant messaging app owned by Meta, continues to introduce new features, including the ability for users to set a secret code to unlock specific chats. This feature enhances privacy, ensuring that unauthorized individuals cannot access protected chats, even if the phone is unlocked.
To bolster the security of WhatsApp accounts, users can take various measures to safeguard personal information and communications. In a previous update in 2023, WhatsApp introduced the Chat Lock feature, allowing users to secure chats using their device’s password or biometric authentication like fingerprints. The latest feature takes security a step further.
With this enhanced security feature, users can set a unique password, distinct from their device’s password, using a secret code. This password is designed to conceal the locked chats folder from the main chat list. Users can access the new security code features by entering a secret code in the messaging app’s search bar.
WhatsApp encourages users to create secret codes using a combination of letters, numbers, special characters, or emojis. For those who prefer not to hide their locked chats, the option to keep them alongside other messages in the chat list remains available.
WhatsApp continues to evolve with advancements in search features, privacy enhancements, and other updates. From Two-Step Verification to Fingerprint or Face ID Lock, and managing group privacy, WhatsApp is continually enhancing the messaging experience.
