The Red Magic 9 Pro and Pro+ from ZTE’ nubia brand launch now and they bringing some of the most impressive features on a gaming phone to date.
Both latest devices feature the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, refined designs, shoulder keys and RGB cooling fans. Both models have the same basic hardware, but they differ in terms of battery size, how quickly they can charge, and the amount of RAM they have.

Both Red Magic 9 Pro phones feature 6.8-inch flat AMOLED displays made by BOE, boasting a resolution of 1,116 x 2,480 pixels. The screens have a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and slim bezels, seamlessly integrating a 16MP front-facing camera beneath the display, eliminating any visible cutout. These display panels can reach a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits and incorporate a 2,160Hz PWM dimming function to alleviate eye strain. Additionally, a fingerprint reader under the display serves a dual purpose as a heart rate monitor.
Red Magic 9 comes with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512GB UFS 4.0 storage while the 9 Pro+ variant is configurable with 16/24GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Both phones feature the updated ICE 13 cooling system which now covers a total area of 10,182mm2.
The refined cooling system is advertised to lower the phone’s running temperature by up to 18° and features a graphene layer below the screen as well as a larger air duct for better airflow. The fan inside the device now spins at 22,000 RPM and boasts 30% improved thermal conductivity.
All Red Magic 9 Pro variants include sturdy aluminum frames used in aviation and have flat glass backs without any raised camera sensors. The camera setup consists of a 50MP primary shooter utilizing Samsung’s GN5 sensor, equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and a 50MP ultrawide lens. The software aspect is managed by Red Magic OS 9.0, built on the Android 14 platform.
The main distinctions between the two phones lie in the battery size and how quickly they charge. The Red Magic 9 has a larger 6,500 mAh battery and charges at 80W using a cable, whereas the 9 Pro+ has a smaller 5,500 mAh battery but supports extremely fast 165W charging. Both phones also come with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, a headphone jack, and an IR blaster.
