Maryam Nawaz has started a new plan in Punjab to help farmers a lot. It’s a big deal because it gives farmers loans without any interest. In the first two years, they can get loans worth 300 billion rupees. This is the first time such a big amount of money is being given to farmers to help them.
Punjab’s Agriculture Minister, Syed Aashiq Hussain Shah Karamani, shared that they’re investing about 400 billion rupees in Punjab’s farming sector. This big investment shows how vital agriculture is in the province and the effort to help farmers do better and get more support.
In the first part of the plan, 500,000 farmers will get loans without having to pay any interest. These loans are worth 150 billion rupees. The main target is small-scale farmers who own less than 12 acres of land. They will get a special card that will make it easier for them to receive help and support.
Furthermore, interest-free loans of 30,000 rupees per acre will be made available, which will significantly ease the financial burden on farmers. Another 100 billion rupees will be provided through subsidies and other support measures to help boost the sector.
Around 80% of small-scale farmers and cultivators are expected to benefit from this agricultural package, making it a far-reaching initiative that aims to uplift the farming community in Punjab.
The Agriculture Minister praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for starting 26 big projects in only 21 days after becoming the leader. One of these projects is the Nawaz Sharif Farmer Card, which aims to give significant help to farmers.
