The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) triumphantly conducted the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the year 2023 on September 10 (Sunday).
A Unified Paper-Based Examination
This year’s MDCAT-2023, administered in a paper-based format, took place on a single day. The examination was held at both national and international venues under the oversight of provincial public admitting universities supervised by PM&DC.
Impressive Participation Numbers
A substantial total of 180,534 students from Pakistan participated in the MDCAT exam. Among them, 180,151 candidates took part in national venues. Additionally, 382 candidates were accommodated in two international centers, comprising 185 candidates in Dubai (UAE) and 197 candidates in Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Region-Wise Breakdown
Breaking down the participation figures, in the province of Punjab, 66,875 candidates appeared, while in Sindh, the count was 40,528. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw 46,439 participants, Baluchistan had 9,230, and Gilgit registered 926 candidates. Azad Jammu & Kashmir accounted for 4,036 participants, while in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 12,118 candidates took part.
Widespread Examination Venues
The MDCAT examination was conducted across 31 cities throughout Pakistan, aiming to accommodate the maximum number of candidates. These cities encompassed Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Sialkot, DG Khan, Sargodha, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Karachi, Jamshoro, Dera Ismail Khan, Malakand, Nawabshah, Swat, Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu, Abbottabad, Quetta, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Haripur, Larkana, Mansehra, and Mirpur.
Student-Friendly Examination Format
PMDC officials have affirmed that the examination followed a straightforward marking pattern, and no negative marking was implemented for incorrect answers. This approach was designed to facilitate the candidates and ensure a fair assessment process.
As the MDCAT exam for 2023 concludes, aspiring medical and dental students across Pakistan now await their results, hoping for a successful step forward in their academic journeys.

The PMDC is officially announce a date for the MDCAT Results 2023. However, various media reports have shared conflicting results date.
A media report claimed that the results would be announced on September 13 while the other claimed that it would be September 15.
