Karachi: The Sindh Health Department has issued an advisory due to the rapid spread of influenza in the city. Many citizens are experiencing symptoms like cold, cough, and fever due to this virus.
Medical experts highlight that individuals who are pregnant, young children, and those over 65 years old with chronic conditions are more susceptible to the virus.
The advisory instructs hospitals to isolate infected patients and urges the public to cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and to properly dispose of used tissues.
Additionally, the Sindh Health Department recommends thorough handwashing with antibacterial soap or handwash, avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth, and maintaining a nutritious diet.
The advisory emphasizes the importance of getting sufficient sleep, staying physically active, and for those with flu-like symptoms to stay home for at least 24 hours until the fever subsides, while avoiding contact with others.
It is advised to wear a face mask when coughing or sneezing, avoid traveling with infected individuals, and ensure good ventilation in enclosed spaces.
