Sindh government has announced a significant move to exempt women from paying fares on the Pink Bus Service in Karachi for a duration of two months. This decision was communicated by Sindh Transport Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, during a ceremony marking the inclusion of a new fleet of buses on Monday. The initiative was prompted by a request from PPP leader Faryal Talpur to waive fares for passengers utilizing the Pink Bus Service in the port city.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to providing quality transport facilities to women in line with the vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP leaders emphasized the significance of the luxury bus service for women commuters. Minister Memon reiterated the government’s dedication to fulfilling promises made to the public, underscoring the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in public transportation. Ms. Talpur expressed gratitude to Mr. Memon for accommodating her request and facilitating the exemption of fares for women passengers.
In a recent development, the Sindh government also announced the introduction of two new routes for the Pink People’s Bus Service in Karachi. Previously, the bus operated from Model Colony Malir to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal. The newly added route spans from Numaish Chowrangi through M.A Jinnah Road, Zaibunissa Street, Metropol, Do Talwar, Teen Talwar, Mazar e Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Dolman Mall, and concludes at Seaview Clock Tower.
Moreover, last month witnessed the launch of an exclusive People’s Bus Service for women in Mirpurkhas, further extending the government’s efforts to enhance accessibility and convenience for female commuters across the province.
