The Ministry of Religious Affairs has announced a key update regarding Hajj 2025 applications, extending the deadline for submissions and postponing the lucky draw. Initially scheduled for December 6, the draw will now take place on December 19, 2024. This extension comes after a lower-than-expected number of applications received so far. As of now, around 55,000 applications have been submitted, which is below the ministry’s initial expectations. The new deadline extension, which could be up to 13 days, is aimed at giving more people the chance to apply for this sacred pilgrimage.
Reasons Behind the Extension
The Ministry’s decision to extend the deadline is primarily to accommodate more applicants. With Hajj being a highly sought-after religious journey, it is crucial that the application process remains accessible to as many eligible citizens as possible. The official announcement confirming the revised schedule is expected soon.
Banks Open on Weekends for Application Submissions
To ensure a smooth application process, the State Bank of Pakistan has directed its designated banks to remain open on weekends. This will help applicants submit their forms ahead of the earlier deadline of December 3. Banks will now stay open until 2:30 PM on weekends, allowing more flexibility for potential pilgrims to complete their applications.
Reduced Hajj Airfares for 2025
In a bid to make the pilgrimage more affordable, the government has announced a reduction in Hajj airfares for 2025. The new airfare is set at Rs 220,000 per person, a Rs 14,000 reduction from the previous year’s fare of Rs 234,000. This significant cut in airfare will result in total savings of approximately Rs 1.24 billion for Pakistani pilgrims.
This move comes after successful negotiations between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Notably, this marks the second consecutive year of reduced airfares for Hajj, as efforts continue to ease the financial burden on pilgrims. Other airlines, such as Saudi Airlines and private Pakistani carriers, are expected to follow suit with similar fare reductions.
Hajj 2025 Travel Plan
The travel plan for Hajj 2025 has been finalized, with a structured division of the total pilgrimage seats among various airlines:
- 40% of pilgrims will travel with PIA,
- 40% with Saudi Airlines,
- 20% with private Pakistani carriers.
This strategy ensures diverse options for pilgrims while maintaining affordability and convenience.
Government’s Commitment to Accessibility
The Ministry of Religious Affairs remains focused on making Hajj 2025 accessible and affordable for as many Pakistanis as possible. By reducing airfares and extending application deadlines, the government aims to support individuals in fulfilling their religious obligations without undue financial strain.
