Butt’s health condition kept him mostly confined to his bed for many months. Family members disclosed that he was dealing with both brain hemorrhage and diabetes.
The elevated blood sugar levels also affected Shahid’s vision. Butt first went viral in 2014 when he destroyed several cars with a club outside the Pakistan Awami Tehreek office in Model Town.
The character of the clashes was filmed shattering the glasses of vehicles parked outside Tahirul Qadri’s religious center, during the police operation. At least 10 people were died after police brutality in the clashes.
In Model Town on June 17, 2014, during a confrontation between a large police group and protesting workers of Dr. Tahirul Qadri, the police did not intervene to stop Butt from his unlawful actions. Instead, they remained passive and allowed him to continue with his activities.
