KARACHI – Animals brought from across the country kept coming to the cattle market on the Northern Bypass in Karachi. Besides cows, bulls, and goats, camels have also begun arriving at the market.
Several types of camels from different cities in Pakistan, such as Sindh, Dera Ismail Khan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, have been brought to the market. There are over 400 camels, representing breeds like Lari, Sindhi, Thari, Sakra, Pahari, and Desi.
According to Naveed Baig, who speaks for the cattle market, more people are visiting every day to buy sacrificial animals. This year, they’ve improved the market with better facilities like restaurants, mosques, toilets, plenty of parking, and good security to help buyers from all over Karachi.
Many people are going to the market from evening until night. Police are stationed on the main roads to the cattle market, with checkpoints set up. They are patrolling the roads from Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad, Surjani, and Site Super Highway day and night to keep everyone safe.
