Based on the official statistics, the typical expense for a dozen eggs has recently surged to an all-time high of Rs. 314.59. This represents a significant rise from the previous year’s rate of Rs. 240.80 per dozen.
In October, the situation deteriorated significantly as the cost of a dozen eggs increased by more than Rs. 14. Major urban centers like Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Karachi are experiencing excessively high prices, where a dozen eggs now come at a concerning price of Rs. 322, as indicated in official records.
Regional disparities
Gujranwala has witnessed a notable increase in the cost of eggs, making it the city where people are currently spending an average of Rs. 322.16 for a dozen eggs. Karachi is not far behind, with egg prices at Rs. 321.64 per dozen, and Rawalpindi is also experiencing a similar trend, with prices averaging Rs. 321.34 for a dozen eggs. Even Quetta is facing the challenge of rising egg prices, as a dozen eggs there now cost an average of Rs. 321.7.
