With these preparations in place, the election commission has confirmed that the general election campaign will run for 54 days, and the election itself will take place at the end of January next year.
This announcement comes after the election commission’s statement yesterday, where they mentioned plans to meet with political parties next month to discuss the rules of conduct for the upcoming general elections.
The election commission has already shared a draft code of conduct with political parties, seeking their input before finalizing the guidelines. This code emphasizes that political parties, candidates, and election agents should avoid promoting views or taking actions that could harm Pakistan’s values, sovereignty, stability, safety, moral standards, public order, or the independence and credibility of its judiciary.
Furthermore, they are encouraged to refrain from defaming or ridiculing any government institutions, including the judiciary and the military.
