LAHORE – Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Usman Anwar has rubbishing reports of closing educational institutions over security concerns.
The head of Punjab Police clearly said that there is no security threat, and they haven’t told anyone to close schools, colleges, or universities.
“It is fake news and citizens should not pay heed to it,” the IGP Punjab said while vowing to take action against those involved in spreading such false information.
He made the statement in response to a message circulating on social media that hasn’t been confirmed. The message suggested that schools in Lahore and other cities would be closed for four days (Jan 25-28) due to security reasons.
The viral notification stated that all schools, colleges and universities will remain closed across the province from January 25 to 28 due to security threats.
A few weeks ago, some universities in Islamabad closed temporarily because of safety worries. The administration decided to shut down Bahria, Air, and Defence universities.
