Asif Ali Zardari won Pakistan’s 14th Presidential election for the second time. Zardari, who leads the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) alongside Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (PML), created a national government. Zardari, aged 68, ran as the combined candidate of PPP and PML-N. His opponent, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, aged 75, represented the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
On Saturday, Asif Ali Zardari was chosen as Pakistan’s 14th President for the second term. Zardari leads the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) alongside Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League (PML), with whom PPP recently joined forces to establish the national government.
Zardari, 68, was the joint candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) while his rival Mahmood Khan Achakzai, 75, was the candidate of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).
